Created in 2001, Concrete Jungle featured a scrappy crew of skaters running rampant in a near-future cyberpunk city. We always thought of it as "Kids" meets "Akira," against a backdrop of urban decay, music, and skating.

Walt Disney eventually optioned the idea, quickly installing their writer and declaring the show had to be a cute and simple, save-the-world adventure series.

This resulted in a long trip through the morass of development hell. The experience spurred my turn away from commercial media work towards the media arts.

Fortunately, we emerged through the gauntlet with the concept still in hand and learned plenty in the process.
