Live Cinema is the performance of audiovisual narratives in a live mixing event, using an array of digital equipment that allows for the real-time editing and remixing of scenes, sounds and samples.
Live Cinema performances feature scripted narratives much like the beats of a film or set list of a band. This figurative and semi-structured flow merges with improvisation and abstraction techniques resembling those of jazz, montage, and mash-ups. Live cinematic performers collaborate, prepare and co-create narratives within unified, if temporary, audiovisual teams.
[sic]'s past live cinema performances include an event with Peter Kruder in Miami, with the 3-person Specific Electric group in Spain, and the British Council's "London Underground" in Budapest, Hungary, featuring Mad Professor, London Elektricity, Mr. Scruff and others.
Shown in several pictures and the video montage on the left, The Center Cannot Hold project best exemplifies Live Cinema.
